About Us

1. What is Romancing Singapore (RS) Festival?

Romancing Singapore is a celebration of life, love and relationships. Started in 2002, the Romancing Singapore festival aimed to convey the message that ‘Love is the little things’ and seeks to encourage everyone to be more expressive with their partners at all times, not just on special occasions. It serves as a gentle reminder to all of us in a relationship to appreciate that the little things that we do together or do for each other count for a lot. The spirit of the festival is to also help everyone rediscover and enjoy living in Singapore.

In 2005, it is managed by the private sector to become a year-long festival and all the initiatives are commercially-driven to add flair, creativity and colour.

2. What are the objectives of the Romancing Singapore Festival?

It is to create social interaction opportunities through commercial thematic events and activities leveraging on the year-long festival. Commercially, the private sector enjoy more business opportunities serving the singles market through their creative marketing strategies to bring people together.

3. Where is there a need for Romancing Singapore?

“Romancing Singapore” is one of the 70 recommendations of the then Public Education Committee on Family, now known as Family Matters! Singapore. In this day and age, it is so easy for us to get totally immersed in our fast paced lifestyles and neglect our relationships. We hope to provide a climate for everyone to celebrate and cherish relationships.

4. Who are involved in Romancing Singapore?

Romancing Singapore has received encouraging support from all sectors of the community – media, grassroot organisations, the CDCs, the F&B, entertainment, hospitality and spa sectors. This is an all-encompassing initiative with both the private and public sectors coming together to make it happen.
